REGULATE, RELATE, REASON
Sequence of Engagement: Our brains are not wired to allow for learning, until we are in relationships. We cannot be in relationship until we are regulated. The sequence of engagement for learning, therefore, is first to regulate, then relate to finally reason.                     This holds true for brains of all ages.
